Sometimes, conversations happen via email that should be shared via Slack. You have the option of copying and pasting, but this takes time. Instead, you can forward the email right to your Slack DMs for easy sharing to other DMs and channels in Slack.
You can also set reminders for these emails in Slack, so you can return to them at a later time.
Who Can Use the Feature?
Sending emails to DMs via Slackbot is free for all users. This includes for individuals using both free and paid versions of Slack. All you need is Slack and your email service.
How to Forward Emails to Your Slack DMs
To start forwarding emails from your inbox to Slack, there are a few key steps to follow. First, open your Slack workspace and then follow these steps:
Select your workspace name from the top left corner of your screen. Select Preferences > Messages & media. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the window until you see Bring emails into Slack. Select Get a Forwarding Address. The address will generate in the box. Select Copy to copy it to your clipboard. Go into your email inbox and forward your email to your new address. You’ll receive a notification of the email in your Slackbot DM.
