Following today’s update, fans have begun quests related to the two new Obelisks found on Nessus and the European Dead Zone. These objects allow Destiny 2 players to earn new season 9 rewards for playing the Sundial activity as well as increase the amount of Polarized Fractaline to further upgrade each obelisk. Unfortunately, a bug is preventing many players from being able to interact with these obelisks.

The issue appears to be widespread, which has prompted Destiny 2 community manager dmg04 to issue a statement and possible fix. Players who are unable to work with the EDZ obelisk, dmg04 recommends walking away for a moment and then trying again. If that doesn’t work, hop on a sparrow to leave the zone, turn around, and attempt it again. Both methods have proven successful for dmg04 in overcoming the current problem.

However, it’s worth noting that these fixes don’t appear to be working for everyone. There are more than a few replies to his Tweet from people who still can’t trigger the Obelisk. Unfortunately, there isn’t a solution to this issue yet, though the studio is currently looking into it so hopefully the fix comes sooner than later.

Bungie Support has also added a few potential tips for getting the prompt to appear while the development team continues to work on a more permanent fix.

If none of the above works, some players have also found that waiting at the obelisk also works. Unfortunately, it requires players just stand and wait for about 5 or so minutes, which may cause the button prompt to finally appear.

Strangely enough, this isn’t the first instance of an interaction bug being discovered. At the start of Season 9, players reported a similar issue happening with Osiris, who serves as the player’s point of contact for much of the content. The work around there was to also keep interacting with him until his inventory screen finally populated with the expected quests. There’s also a few player friendly bugs including a glitch that essentially gives players free infusion materials after a Sundial run or the fact that Osiris may sometimes lose his Warlock robe.
